Loosening the reins and leaning into a creative life—that’s Jayme’s sweet spot as an artist, author, and educator. For twenty years, Jayme has guided others in their artistic pursuits at her long-time art studio, Piggy Toes, and in classrooms for both children and adults. Her focus is helping to instill the truth that we are all creative beings and have the ability to expressively create in many forms and disciplines. The transformative power of art and faith are also common threads in her award-winning novels, Chasing the ButterflyRUSH, and Seasoned.

As to her passion for painting …

“My paintings are an expression of my most real and complete self. Immense freedom, connection, and peace result when brush and paint are laid to canvas and paper. Mistakes are welcomed. Risk-taking is protocol. Grace, trust, and kindness are essential. That’s how I enjoy the ride.

My Floral Abstraction series is my sweet-spot of intuitive, adventurous, and intimacy with others, and most importantly, God. Faith continually leads me to refreshing waters—lose brushwork, layers of vibrant color, evolving shapes and elements—giving insight to the complexity and meaning of life.

From snowy landscapes reminiscent of my home state of Colorado to extensive travels in Europe, lounging on dreamy beaches, focusing on the stillness of still life, journeying in my imagination, and embracing a menagerie of well-loved animals, my subject matter varies as each painting is a new challenge. Acrylic, watercolor, oil and soft pastel, ink, paper, embedded words and images, and pages from my novels are my playmates in the sandbox of the painterly life."

Jayme lives at the base of the Colorado Rocky Mountains where she and her husband have survived raising three hungry, hockey-playing sons. Currently, two very needy Golden Retrievers, Millie and Bella, run the roost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the courses for beginners? Occasional dabblers? Seasoned artists?

Yes! My approach to painting is intuitive, playful, and inviting to ALL levels of artists (you don’t even need to know how to draw!). Intentionally, the videos are paced based on real-time painting (not time-lapsed where your head starts to spin!). Beginning artists are encouraged to follow my lead to learn and experiment with the BASIC ELEMENTS of ART (color, line, shape, form, texture, value, space). As you discover your unique and individualized painting style, other PRINCIPLES of ART (balance, proportion, unity, harmony, variety, emphasis, rhythm, and movement, will emerge and blossom as we step through painting together. For seasoned artists who are looking for a new approach (perhaps an excuse to run wildly in a new direction!), I promise you’ll find refreshing waters!

Is there a way to get feedback and encouragement about my paintings?

Yes! I highly encourage you to join my private FB Group, The Painterly Life, where members can post their work, ask for feedback, and enjoy the wide variety of approaches to the creative life.

How long do I have access to the course after purchasing and when can I access?

You’ll immediately receive a link via email to the course and have unlimited access.

The course is designed for you to work at your own pace – stop, start, review, redo—as many times as you like. The course is not downloadable due to piracy issues and to keep the course from being resold. And, I thank you in advance for not sharing your private course link J.

What supplies are needed?

Recommended supplies are listed in each course. Basically, you’ll need a couple sizes of brushes, basic primary colors, suggested other fun colors to try, canvas or acrylic paper, palette (can be a paper plate), and a water tub. Art supplies come in a wide array of prices—work within your budget—you can always add/upgrade later.

If my dog eats all my art supplies and I need a refund, is that possible?

Yes!
